| Florentine Vase |
[26 Aug 2007|01:40pm] |
This is one of two vase's I have been working on during my Summer Ceramics course. The first to have handels that I have done. I used a Blue and Yellow underglaze and had to bisque fire this twice, the vase pictured still needs a clear glossy coat. Its sister it taller, thinner, and as handels pertruding from the top rim. The two vase set will be a birthday/christmas gift for jackie to thank her for having us stay in italy with her :-)
I am very happy with how these came out, they were thrown in porcelin, hand painted, using tape to block off the patern, it was very time consuimg!

| ScriptFrenzy Party |
[26 Aug 2007|01:37pm] |
Ok, so here will be my attempt to get updaed on everything. The month of June was Script Frenzy, you have 30 days, and you write a 50,000 word script. I started, I think I wrote 1500 words, we spent the first week on June in Italy, alas I just wasn't motivated to finish, when I got back, my house had been robbed, nothing major but about 5000$ of DVD's and Video Games, so I was highly unsocial and very un motivated.
We did attend the after party, and Joel alas was not a loser, in the final hours he did indeed complete his script! Yeah Joel for staying on track :-)

| Song I really Like |
[16 Aug 2007|08:16pm] |
Hey There Delilah lyrics by Plain White T.
Hey there Delilah What's it like in New York City? I'm a thousand miles away But girl tonight you look so pretty Yes you do Time Square can't shine as bright as you I swear it's true
Hey there Delilah Don't you worry about the distance I'm right there if you get lonely Give this song another listen Close your eyes Listen to my voice it's my disguise I'm by your side
Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me What you do to me
Hey there Delilah I know times are getting hard But just believe me girl Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar We'll have it good We'll have the life we knew we would My word is good
Hey there Delilah I've got so much left to say If every simple song I wrote to you Would take your breath away I'd write it all Even more in love with me you'd fall We'd have it all
Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me
A thousand miles seems pretty far But they've got planes and trains and cars I'd walk to you if I had no other way Our friends would all make fun of us and we'll just laugh along because we know That none of them have felt this way Delilah I can promise you That by the time we get through The world will never ever be the same And you're to blame
Hey there Delilah You be good and don't you miss me Two more years and you'll be done with school And I'll be making history like I do You know it's all because of you We can do whatever we want to Hey there Delilah here's to you This ones for you
Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me What you do to me.

You are The High Priestess
Science, Wisdom, Knowledge, Education.
The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. The moon crown on her head as well as the crescent by her foot indicates her willingness to illuminate what you otherwise might not see, reveal the secrets you need to know. The High Priestess is also associated with the moon however and can also indicate change or fluxuation, particularily when it comes to your moods.

| Horrible Drawing with a laptop Tochpad, but sorta Acurate.... |
[26 Jun 2007|02:31am] |

What does your drawing say about YOU?
The results of your analysis say:
You are driven and ambitious and tend to make radical moves to reach your goals. You are a thoughtful and cautious person. You like to think about your method, seeking to pursue your goal in the most effective way. You like following the rules and being objective. You are precise and meticulous, and like to evaluate decisions before making them. You are ambitious and optimistic, determined to prove and advertise yourself.

| Unknown Girl |
[26 Jun 2007|01:54am] |
Day 8: Unknown Girl
The epitome of innocence and simple beauty is the woman in this photograph. Her hair down across her back relaxed, her nightgown draped over her shoulders. In my most intimate moments, I could only dream to look this peaceful. Her face calm and serine her lips gentle. No happiness or sadness she just is, the face of every woman in her most comfortable moments. This is another one of my beloved favorites from the Uffizi.

| Durer Wall |
[26 Jun 2007|01:50am] |
Day 8: Durer Wall
This is another Piece by Durer which was jaw dropping. The detail was simply not imaginable. There is no perspective in the photograph, but this was the size of an entire wall, it must have taken days and days to complete, and from my limited drawing experience, it is an amazing challenge to not smear your work while working from one section to another, so to imagine if he worked top down, or had some other type of mechanism leaves the mind to wonder. Both pieces also have an amazing three dimensional feel for a pencil drawing.

| Durer Girl |
[26 Jun 2007|01:48am] |
Day 8: Durer Girl
On the first floor of the Uffizi below all of the paintings, extravagant rooms, and hundreds of statues lining the halls, was an exhibit of drawings by Durer. This one was encased behind a glass panel and just slightly larger then an 81/2X11 page. I love the beauty capture with simple pencil strokes and shading of black and white.

| Passed Out Cherub |
[26 Jun 2007|01:42am] |
Day 8: Passed-out Cherub
I thought this was cute, it shows how a cherub is not really a child, but a small Angel. In this picture it is sleeping off a large glass of wine. I love the contradiction and the black marble. This was another of my Uffizi Highlights.

| Sliced Beef |
[26 Jun 2007|01:40am] |
Day 8: Sliced Beef
Joel’s meal was this sliced beef pictured here. Getting to the restaurant was a challenge, but we found something amazing. Here is an excerpt from Mary, describing the evening:
“Friends of Joel and Vicki from California just arrived from Paris by car. We attempted to go out for dinner last night at about 9 pm, and had difficulty getting a cab due to the busy hour. By the end of the evening we decided to walk back from the restaurant and wandered through downtown at 1 AM. What was really cool was that their friends had a GPS that was equal to an instant “map quest.” Some streets were full of young people out clubbing, but it was actually a relief to walk across the main plazas without throngs of tour groups buzzing about like bees swarming.”

| Three Ladies Dancing |
[26 Jun 2007|01:39am] |
Day 8: Three Ladies Dancing
This amazing image of the three muses. While shopping in the market I wanted to get a photo album to print and put my favorite pictures from the trip. Since I took a total of 2500 pictures, I felt it would be important to not only have digital copies, but to use an artistic eye to crop, enlarge, size and then print those of the most meaning. What better album to put them in but one from Firenze. The one I purchases had a beautifully carved leather cover that is the imprint of these three muses dancing.

| Grapes |
[26 Jun 2007|01:22am] |
Day 8: Grapes
This is one of Joel’s favorite pieces from the Uffizi. It is not very easy to see in this picture, the painting was small but the colors dark and rich. It is basically of fruit on a table, but more specifically the grapes are amazing, they are translucent, and it is almost unfathomable to think of a painter being able to add solid pigment in a way that allows you to see through the grape and actually have them look almost mouth watering.

| MultiMarble Bust |
[26 Jun 2007|01:18am] |
Day 8: Multi-Marble Bust
One of the reasons I liked this piece was because in a time when many statues were simply made of pure white marble, multi-colored stone was used to add flare and personality to the clothing of this man. Using the different types of marble add color and bring the statue to life.

| Chalk Woman |
[26 Jun 2007|01:15am] |
Day 8: Chalk Woman
Of all the art we saw from 1000’s of years ago in the many museums, this chalk drawing painted on the street by a student, may have been one of my favorite pieces. This is a forced perspective drawing, so when looking at it from the vertical the dimensions are wrong and the painting looks warped. But when standing on the marked line, it looks three dimensional.
